About Rate My City

Rate My City is a crowdsourced, multi-category review platform for cities — safety, schools, healthcare, nature, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, traffic, housing, weather, internet, walkability, and cleanliness. Instead of one generic "how's this city" rating, every review scores each category individually, so the result reflects what actually matters to the person rating it.

How scores work

A city's overall and per-category scores are always a live computed average of individual, approved review scores — never entered or edited by hand. Every submission passes through moderation before it counts; see Community Guidelines for what that involves. You can also view scores filtered to the last week, month, or year to see how a city's reputation is trending rather than only its all-time average.

Who can review

Anyone — reviews don't require an account. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect either way.

Businesses and tourism boards

A city page can also list local vendors — restaurants, hotels, tourism boards, retail, services, and attractions. A business can claim its listing to manage it directly and publish coupons, discounts, or promotions once the claim is approved.
